Cayenne Pepper For Your Migraines

Cayenne peppers contain the active ingredient of pepper spray, the chemical capsaicin. Capsaicin triggers nerves repeatedly, causing pain at first but then depleting the nerves. Afterwards, pain signals can no longer be sent. It increases saliva and stomach secretions, which helps food digest. Cayenne also serves to dilate blood vessels, improving blood flow. These effects are all temporary, but immediate.

Thanks to these effects, cayenne’s medicinal and culinary applications date back as far as 9,000 years. Taken orally, it can help heal digestive and circulatory problems. A topical cream can provide relief from arthritis pain.

There are two common ways to ingest cayenne. It can be cooked as a spice, and is popular in cuisine around the world. It can also be drunk, either by mixing small amount of powder into a shot glass of water or by drinking the liquid form available in many grocery stores – again, a shot glass will do.

The immediacy of its effects gives cayenne great household utility. Even a small oral dose serves to relieve pain and clear headaches very quickly. Sprinkled on a cold hand or foot, it can improve circulation and rapidly warm the affected part. Studies have even claim it works against prostate cancer! Besides, it adds a wonderful heat to many foods. Enjoy!
